Cole Rayment & White are proud to be a genuine part of the local community and we have supported many local Sports Clubs and organisations since our humble beginnings in 1989 via various sponsorships. Obviously as the business has grown in more recent years, we have been able to be more generous, giving back even more to the local community. The decision regarding which clubs and organisations to support becomes more difficult each year. A budget is set aside for the support of worthwhile causes and organisations and we have compiled.
Over the last few years we have supported Camelford Football Club, with new track suits, jackets and signs for their most successful season ever, having reached the Cornwall Senior Club Final in 2010 and Camelford won the 2011 Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Division One West - Note the octagonal signs!
We also support Padstow and Wadebridge Football Club particularly the Wadebridge Youth section, and each year sponsor their fixtures board.
Brighton and Hove Albion Goal Keeper
Wadebridge is very proud of their latest international prodigy Christian Walton. Christian’s Mum, Jane, worked for Cole Rayment & White since we first started back in 1989 and only left in 2011 after relocating to Truro. Whilst at the local professional team, Plymouth Argyle, we sponsored Christian who has now moved to Brighton and Hove Albion although still comes home regularly during the holidays and retains close family and personal ties with Wadebridge. Pictured are some of Christian’s signed gloves and he has just made his England under 19 debut in March 2014.
We have provided training tops and (jointly with Rock Marine Services) supported new fixture boards at St Minver Football Club. We also support the Wadebridge Camels Rugby Club with training tops, First Team shirt sponsorship and have signs and tops at Wadebridge and St Minver Cricket Clubs. We have also in the past supported Padstow Football Club with similar ventures. Previously we have sponsored Plymouth Argyle Football Club, our local professional club through our association with Romain Larrieu and Jeff Cole was the treasurer on Romain’s testimonial committee. Part of the fundraising effort went to 3 local cancer charities culminating in a gala dinner and prestigious friendly versus Queens Park Rangers. We also support the local Padstow Gig Rowing Club with signage.
Previous golfing activities have included taking part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge in which Jeff Cole and former partner Charles Rayment won the regional event. They travelled to Scotland raising well over £1,000 for Macmillan playing 72 holes of golf in one day and having a raffle with many prizes donated by local organisations. We have also supported St Kew Golf Club with provision of signs and a trophy, St Enodoc Golf Club with trophies and, more recently, supported the local charity days at Bowood Golf Club near Camelford.
Other organisations that have benefitted include St Kew Pre School, Wadebridge Bowling Club, the Choral Society, The Folk Festival, Wadebridge Festival of Music and Speech and of course many other smaller individual Clubs and Societies throughout the year for whom we provide raffle prizes.
In 2009 we paid for the Royal Marine Band transportation cost to come to Prideaux Place in Padstow for the Bid the Retreat in aid of Help The HeroesTM charity which was our chosen charity that season.
We have sponsored Wadebridge Tennis Club’s popular local coach James Brobin who ran the 2010 London Marathon in aid of Precious Lives. This year James runs for the Cornish Hospice, to which we have also donated.
Each year we have a Macmillan Coffee morning and also hold an afternoon Cornish cream tea event just before Christmas. Last year we managed to raise £300.00 for this very worthwhile charity.
In the past we have sponsored the Queen of Queens Beauty Pageant within Wadebridge and Delabole carnivals, also sponsoring the Beat Retreat Royal Marine concert at Place, Padstow. We sell tickets for many charity events including Cancer Research concerts, The Big Breakfast, Help for Heroes tickets and various local school events. The offices act as unofficial ticket outlets, providing town centre convenience for many good local charities.
We also host the Poppy Appeal and raise money for the Royal Marine charities as we have an association with Mark Ormrod of Plymouth who was the first triple amputee in the Afghanistan conflict. As a result, we hold wrist bands and Royal Marine bears for sale at the Wadebridge office.
We have links with many local business and commercial events including discount schemes for holiday tenants including golf clubs, various eateries etc, and we donate regularly to the Wadebridge and Padstow Christmas lights appeal.
